The PHACON ENT trainers are a state-of-the-art solution for surgical training in the field of otorhinolaryngology. The systems, an ideal amalgamation of technology and realistic simulation, offer a comprehensive and authentic training environment for medical professionals.
The PHACON head model serves as a base for the interchangeable patient models. These models are available in a wide variety of anatomies, pathologies, levels of detail, and age groups, to simulate a broad range of scenarios. The flexible adjustability of the head model enables it to mimic the optimal patient positioning during surgery. Moreover, the head model is equipped with electronics and a holder for the surgical navigation camera, which effectively monitors the course of the operation.
Starting with the PHACON patient model, which impresses with its unique material composition, the trainer allows for a detailed reproduction of human tissue types such as bone, cartilage, muscle, skin, and nerves. This anatomically accurate model provides the surgeon with tactile feedback that closely resembles that experienced with real patients, thus creating a realistic surgical experience.
Another key component of the PHACON ENT Trainer is the integrated surgical navigation. This innovative technology shows the surgeon the position of their instruments in the CT data set and in the 3D representation of the PHACON patient, which is essential for precise and safe surgery.
The included PHACON training and navigation software, installed on a powerful notebook, allows for comprehensive surgical preparation and support. It provides access to CT data sets and a 360° rotatable virtual 3D model of the patient. The software enables a detailed view of the CT layers in different planes and adjustments of contrast and brightness. Additionally, anatomical structures can be shown or hidden for better orientation, and potential injuries to nerves or blood vessels during the operation are visualized.
Finally, the instrument marker set completes the overall package. This set allows for the navigation of all used instruments and automatically recognizes the inserted patient model to adjust content accordingly. Thus, users can easily and quickly switch between different anatomies and age groups and demonstrate and practice various surgical techniques.
